Exploring Northern Ireland

Farewell (for now) IRELAND (100) – next up NORTHERN IRELAND (101) spending the next few days exploring:
– Belfast
– Derry
– The Giants Causeway
– Carrickfergus Castle
– Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge
– Bushmills Whisky Distillery
– Dunluce Castle
– Cushendall, Glenariff and Cushendun villages!

Northern Ireland – the 101st country I’ve lived, worked, studied, volunteered in or simply backpacked around! Controversial one this is!

Until today I had no idea that Northern Ireland (101) has its own version of the UK pound (as does Scotland and England) – Wales does not. — in Carrickfergus.

Northern Ireland – Had an absolutely wicked day leaving Belfast this morning to explore northern ireland by road via its stunning coastal roads, exploring the surreal rock formations of:

The GIANTS CAUSEWAY (incredible geological formations as a result of volcanic activity), Carrickfergus Castle (with stunning views out all the way to Scotland), the impressive CARRICK-A-REDE ROPE BRIDGE (a 300 year old teetering rope bridge built by local salmon fishermen to gain better access to their catch), Dunluce Castle, Cushendall, Glenariff and Cushendun villages!

Not to mention the endless amount of game of thrones sets (we saw “the wall”, “castle black” and many more spots) and game of thrones tourist tat up north!

Now heading back to BELFAST for a BLACK CAB TOUR of the MURALS! Tomorrow off to DERRY!

Northern Ireland has a population of 1.6 million with 500,000 residing in Belfast.

The Europa hotel in central Belfast holds the world record for the most bombed hotel anywhere in the world.
